Lakeview Public Schools COVID-19 Preparedness and Response Plan Details

The health and safety of Macomb County students and staff remains a top priority as we prepare to reopen schools for the 2020-21 school year. Lakeview Public School's leadership collaborated with the Macomb Intermediate School District to develop this Preparedness and Response Plan. Lakeview is committed to serving our students and families and delivering a high quality education while keeping everyone healthy and safe. Our ultimate goal is to safely return to face-to-face instruction, as we know this is the optimal learning environment for students. However, during this global pandemic, we recognize the importance of providing a variety of learning options. Lakeview's Board of Education and Administration utilized staff, parent, and community input to determine several of the specific, major decision points in our plan; those decisions are reflected throughout this document. Our plan addresses how schools will operate during Phases 1-6 of the states reopening process. On August 4, 2020 the Lakeview Board of Education approved the COVID-19 Preparedness and Response Plan with a unanimous vote. In the event that a shift becomes necessary, Lakeview will be able to fluidly transition among instructional options. We look forward to the 2020-21 school year and providing our students with equitable, rigorous instruction in a safe environment.

Hawk Heroes Sponsor Food Drive

Our Harmon Hawk Heroes are sponsoring a Thanksgiving Basket Food Drive. Now through November 19th students are able to bring in nonperishable food items to donate for local families in need. To make things a little easier, there are some suggested donations for each grade level:
Kindergarten: canned pumpkin, evaporated milk, pie shells
First Grade: rice, instant potatoes, boxed stuffing
Second Grade: canned yams, canned green beans, canned corn
Third Grade: cream of mushroom soup, chicken broth
Fourth Grade: cranberry sauce, raspberry jello, brownie/cake mixes
Fifth Grade: cornbread mix, cereal, flour
Donations are voluntary. Boxes for the items are located in the main hallway and students can place the donated items there. Please be sure to have your items in by November 19th so our Hawk Heroes can create the baskets and get them to local families. Thanks for your help!

Fall Conferences

November is upon us and that means that it’s time to gear up for Parent & Teacher Conferences. Conferences will take place the evening of Wednesday, November 11th and the afternoon and evening of Thursday, November 12th. Our fall conferences will be different this year as they will be held via Zoom or telephone. While this is a bit less personal, it does allow for you to attend conferences from the comfort of your own home, during a break at work, or from out of town…as long as you have a wifi connection. Each teacher has blocked time for parents to sign up for a conference. You can see the available conference times by using Signup Genius. To get to a teacher’s Signup Genius page you can easily click on their link. If you have multiple children, you can click on each teacher’s link and then select a time. The links were emailed out to families. You can also access the links by clicking on the title of this news article. Please be sure to sign up for a time slot!
