Principal's Message
Hello, Harmon Families!
Welcome to School! Our school is committed to fostering academic excellence. Harmon Elementary School is home to just over 340 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Our dedicated staff of energetic, creative and talented teachers deliver a stimulating curriculum that tries to capture the unique interests of each child.
As we move through the 2022 - 2023 school year, we are excited to be working with your family. This year we have adopted new social studies curriculum for our Kindergarten through Fifth Grade students. Students will have access to new and improved social studies materials that will improve their learning. In addition, the social studies curriculum is full of informational text that can be meshed with English Language Arts instruction. Teachers have also received new technology in the form of interactive Promethean Boards that will enhance both teaching and student learning.
Thanks to our community passing a recent bond issue, our Harmon parking lot has more than doubled in size. This same bond issue enabled the district to purchase the new Promethean Boards for every classroom. In addition, within two years, we will also see some major building renovations and upgrades. The parking lot is just the start of the renovation excitement!
Our Harmon students have a variety of activities that enhance their educational experience. Various building teachers assist in leading each of these activities. While some activities were placed on hold last year, we are hoping that this upcoming school year will have each and every activity up and running. These activities include:
- Safety Patrol (for Grade 5)
- Green Team & Gardening Club (Harmon is a Macomb County Green School)
- Chess Club (for Grades 4 and 5)
- Hawk Heroes (Cosponsored by the JOOI)
- Girls on the Run (Cosponsored with the WYCA)
- Student Council
I encourage parents, students, and community members to keep checking our website for updated information and newsletters. Be sure to contact us if you have any questions.
Welcome to Harmon, a great place to learn and grow!
