School of Choice is now Open for the 2022-2023 School Year

OPEN TO MACOMB COUNTY RESIDENTS -
UNLIMITED OPENINGS IN KDG AND 6th THRU 11th GRADES.
Limited Openings: 1st (30 seats), 2nd (30 seats), 3rd (40 seats), 4th (25 seats), and 5th (20 seats) Grades.
(NOTE: if there are more applications received than openings available for grades with limits, a lottery will be held)
12th Grade is closed to School of Choice enrollment.
Application deadline is Friday, August 19, 2022 (3PM).
Registration must be complete by 08/26/2022.

Lakeview Public Schools - Board of Education Trustee Vacancy

Lakeview Public Schools is seeking interested, qualified applicants for the position of Board Trustee as a result of the resignation of Mr. James Kouri. Mr. Kouri’s vacant term would have ended December 31, 2024. According to State of Michigan election law, and Board By-Laws, the remaining Board Members must fill the open seat within 30 days through an application, potential interview, and voted appointment process (all of which must be conducted in a public meeting). According to State law, a person appointed to fill the position would be seated through December 31, 2022. A partial term is available from January 1, 2023 through December 31, 2024 with proper application through the St. Clair Shores City Clerk’s office by July 26, 2022. A newly elected Board Member would then fulfill the rest of the vacant term from January 1, 2023 through December 31, 2024. Applications to be considered for the temporary Board Trustee vacancy should include: 1) a written letter of interest indicating why you want to become a Lakeview Board Member, 2) this form with the appropriate information completed, and 3) any other supporting materials the candidate may wish to provide (resume, references, etc.), sent to the attention of: Ms. Robbyn Martin, Secretary

Materials to be considered for the Board Trustee vacancy will be accepted through the close of business on Friday, June 17, 2022. The Board will consider all applicants submitting an interest and their qualifications to determine whether the Board will conduct interviews of none, some or all candidates at a Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, June 21, 2022. Candidates may be asked to be present for this public meeting. Candidates MUST be a resident of the school district.

Half Day April 14th/Dismissal at 11:25 AM

Our third quarter marking period will end on Thursday, April 14th. This will be a half day for students with dismissal taking place at 11:25 AM. Please remember that Friday, April 15th that school will be closed for Good Friday and the Easter Weekend.

Fifth Grade Class Photo is April 12

We will be taking the Annual Fifth Grade Class Photograph on Tuesday, April 12th. Students are able to order a copy of the class photo. Ordering information can be found by clicking on the headline of this article. You can pay LifeTouch directly by using the code and information provided on the attachment.

Spring Picture Day is April 12

Spring Picture Day will take place on Tuesday, April 12th. Information was sent out in a parent email as well as sent home in backpacks. You can find picture ordering information by clicking on the title of this article.

Read "The BFG" with Lakeview Staff! Daily Video Readings are Here!

Reading "The BFG" as a family is a great way to be involved with National Reading Month. After you read as a family, you can also read with a Lakeview Public Schools elementary staff member. Various staff, from all four Lakeview elementary schools, have recorded themselves reading a chapter from the book. You can access the read alouds by clicking on the headline of this article. Once there, your child can sit with their book and read along. Readers can be teachers, social workers, or even principals. Your child will probably easily recognize the reader of chapters one and two on March 1st.

Reading Month Kickoff Video

If you have been around Harmon for a length of time, you know that every March we enjoy celebrating National Reading Month. Every Harmon family will be receiving a copy of Roald Dahl's "The BFG" book. Various activities and a reading schedule have been published on our website. March is Reading Month!

March is National Reading Month and Harmon always likes to celebrate reading. Harmon is participating in the One Book, One School Program. The PTO has purchased Roald Dahl's book, "The BFG", for each family. There is a calendar set up for reading specific chapters each night. The calendar also highlights the five reading spirit days that we have each Friday and on March 31st. You can access the calendar by clicking on the headline of this article. Books will be sent home with students on February 28th with chapter readings starting on March 1st.

Dr. Seuss Spirit Day on March 4

In honor of the March 2nd birthday of Dr. Seuss, we will be celebrating with a Dr. Seuss Spirit Day on Friday, March 4th. You can wear the colors red and white, or wear your stove pipe Cat in the Hat style hats. Plan now so that you are ready for Dr. Seuss Day on Friday!
